Press Release: NEW GALLERY!
September 2023Amy Moglia Heuerman opens a new gallery and studio in the Naples Design District
NAPLES (Sept. 13) – Naples-based, nationally known artist Amy Moglia Heuerman announces the Saturday, Oct. 21 opening of the new Amy Art Gallery + Studio, located at 950 1st Avenue North in the Naples Design District. She will celebrate the opening with an open house that day from 12 to 4 p.m.
The new gallery is Heuerman’s second in the Naples Design District. She closed the original gallery on 10th Street South in May after four years.
“I had outgrown my original space and was taking more and more art home to store,” Heuerman said. “I am committed to Naples and the exciting plans for the Design District so started looking for space nearby that would showcase my large paintings.”
The new Amy Art Gallery + Studio is just one block north of the original. “I fell in love with the building’s contemporary architecture, raw open space, beautiful light pouring in, and ample storage – the key advantages that led to my decision,” Heuerman continued.
The artist directed a major, six-month floor-to-ceiling, to the studs renovation of the 1,500 square-foot space to repair hurricane damage and create an environment for her diverse paintings including abstracts, coastals, abstract florals, and her popular “girls” series.
The new Amy Art Gallery + Studio is bathed in light streaming through soaring, double-height, wraparound windows. Heuerman significantly expanded the exhibit space by building walls that suspend from the ceiling, as well as a wall on wheels that divides her working studio from exhibit space. The exposed ceiling lighting grids and pipes give the space an urban, loft like feel. The buildout includes a reception area, salon style seating, Heuerman’s working studio, and a large alcove.
Approximately 50 paintings are exhibited throughout the gallery and will rotate on a continuous basis. The paintings feature Heuerman’s uplifting, positive imagery and create a serene and joyful ambiance.
To celebrate the opening of Amy Art Gallery + Studio, Amy Moglia Heuerman will host an open house on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 12 until 4 p.m. “I’m inviting the community to a ‘come as you are’ Saturday event for the first public preview of Amy Art,” she said. “Guests will savor refreshments from our neighbor, Grappino restaurant, see paintings in progress, and enjoy convivial conversations in the gallery’s salon style seating.”
Amy Moglia Heuerman’s broad wingspan encompasses a variety of styles. The majority of her paintings lean toward abstract expressionism. Her contribution to the art form features her impasto technique that creates a field of color subtly peeking through textured layers of paint. She begins each painting with a coat of cadmium red which gives many of her paintings a warm glow. As she applies more color, her imaginative shapes emerge when her colors collide and bleed into each other.
Renowned art critic Bruce Helander* previewed Heuerman’s current collection and noted her “brilliant utilization of color mixes” and “…enchanting mix of shapes that peer through a blanket of cloudlike layers of pure color.”
Amy Moglia Heuerman has worked as an artist throughout her life. She began her art career as a children’s illustrator, an enterprise which grew into a successful licensing business. Her innate gifts with color and composition and mastery of whimsical shapes are also at play in her fine art paintings.
Heuerman’s work is exhibited at two Amy Art galleries, one in Bay Harbor, Mich., and the other in Naples, Fla., at Manolis Projects in Miami, Fla. and District Gallery in Shaker Heights, Oh., and in the homes and offices of collectors nationwide.
Amy Art Gallery + Studio in Naples will be open Tuesday thru Saturday from 12 until 5 p.m., and by appointment by calling Heuerman directly at 402-203-2041.
