Swinging into Summer
May 2023After thinking about the flag as a work of art and studying other artists' American flag paintings, I knew I wanted my flag to look like it is waving, caught in mid-flutter
Opening night for Manolis Projects’ “Miami: Pastel Paradise” was a blast. I met interesting people and fellow artists, and am excited to announce that I will be represented by Manolis Projects Gallery.
The gallery, founded by artist J. Steven Manolis, will exhibit several of my abstract paintings. You can view the paintings available through the Manolis Projects Gallery website here.
In other news, Manolis Projects is putting together an online group exhibition celebrating America’s 247th birthday, with artist interpretations of the American flag. Called “247-HBA,” (the “HBA” is Happy Birthday America) the exhibition will include my flag painting, “Grace + Glory.”

After thinking about the flag as a work of art and studying other artists’ American flag paintings, I knew I wanted my flag to look like it is waving, caught in mid-flutter. The blue background, the suggestion of stars, and the waving red stripes catch the light and colors in different ways. My intention was to convey America’s history of both difficulty and triumph. (Scroll down to see the painting.)
And finally, renovations on the new Amy Art Gallery + Studio are moving along! Located on 1st Avenue North in the Naples Design District, it’s just a block from the original gallery (now closed). It is a loft-like space, spacious, airy, and flooded with light, and I look forward to welcoming you there soon.
Let’s keep in touch as summer unfolds. I’d love to hear from you.
Wishing you a joyful summer
